How is yoga related to Ayurveda?

I have heard people talking about ayurvedic health in my yoga class...herbal remedies, breathing techniques, things like that. I know the two are related but how does yoga fit into ayurveda? Do you learn those things as part of yoga or do you have to seek them out separately?

Ayurveda and Yoga are closely related to each others. Ayurveda is the term for ancient Indian medical science which many times suggest what yoga techniques can be adopted to cure a particular type of disease.

So is yoga a part of ayurveda? You say that it suggests what yoga postures can be used to cure diseases...is it like a health manual? And are yoga and ayurveda from the same spiritual roots/scriptures? Just trying to understand how they fit together.
No, yoga is not the part of ayurveda. Ayurveda incorporates yoga. Ayurveda came into existence during the mid-second millennium BCE. Ayurveda principles are written in 'Atharvaveda' while yoga methods are defined in 'Rigveda'.

'Rigveda' was composed between 1700–1100 BC which is oldest Indian scripture.

So in short,  Ayurveda = Natural Medicines + Yoga

Both ayurveda and yoga belongs to Indian Hindu spiritual scriptures.
